We are very proud to have been awarded by Atout France, France Tourism Development Agency, the award for best Commercial Partner of the year:)
Following a binge of Salade Niçoise in the south of France, here I am in Fridheimar, 1h10 east of Reykjavik, Iceland. The days are getting very short, the nights very long and the tomatoes very red! Yes, you heard it right, with 4h30′ of daylight in December I have tasted some of the best tomatoes I have ever eaten. Iceland’s energy is 100% renewable, abundant, cheap and clean. Iceland is tapping the power of our planet and greenhouses (and their tomatoes) are loving it. Our red round fruit is getting the spa treatment using 1.2 megawatt of electric power, the equivalent to the domestic use of a town of 3000 people, volcanic tuff to control moisture and fertilisation and 600 bees to pollinate all the flowers (1 bee visit up to 2000 flowers a day), eh voila, although not quiet. Because Iceland’s production is only for local consumption, the tomatoes will only be picked when needed, giving them ample time to lounge on the vine, getting sweeter and juicer. Bring on the Olive oil 🙂
As we slowly move toward lower temperatures, shorter days and white out conditions, we will slowly start to dream of colours, flowers and ………… lavender scents and Rosé wine? That is if you have been to Provence! Do not despair, travel ideas are coming your way. The southeastern region of France, bordering Italy and the mediterranean and known for its diverse landscapes, including, but not limited to, Olives groves, rolling Vineyards, pine forests, is hard to forget. We are fortunate, at Longitude 180, we get to discover a destination inside out before you get a taste of it. We walk the trail, we hit the road, we sip the wine! We also talk to guides, hotel managers, chefs and museum curators. Provence has so much to offer in the above departments that many visits are required (I know what you re thinking!). However the knowledge required to create, design and organize a travel journey is essential.
As comes D-day, upon your arrival at the airport or at the train station, our operation unfolds, seamlessly. Enjoy:)
